Inspiration is an Elixir of Life

The quote from John Quincy Adams sums up what is close to my heart:
«If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.»
In my opinion, leadership and inspiration are inextricably linked if we are to find innovative solutions to the challenges of our time. We need leadership that inspires and energizes - ourselves and those around us.
Leadership is everywhere
Leadership encompasses much more than traditional line or team leadership. Even as parents, spouses, life and business partners, friends, neighbors, trainers, coaches - wherever we interact with people - we lead. We cannot not lead! We influence others with what we say and especially with what we do.
What could be more natural than using that influence in a positive way to inspire those around us to do their best and be the best version of themselves. This also applies to ourselves, of course.
What does inspiration mean to us?
At this point we come to the second key concept, inspiration. The word inspiration is derived from «inspirare» - Latin for «to breathe into, to instill». The dictionary defines inspiration as «creative, enlightening idea, sudden insight, feeling of enthusiasm you get from someone or something». In this way, inspiration acts like an elixir of life: it stimulates us to develop fresh ideas, find creative solutions and strike out in new directions. Inspiration makes us more productive and more alive.
Inspirational leadership gives «superpowers»
Leadership that inspires spurs people to muster the motivation, enthusiasm and courage to do better things and achieve more. This quote from an anonymous author aptly sums it up:
«You don't inspire people by revealing your superpowers.
You inspire people by helping them discover their own.»
Inspiration, however, can only fall on fertile ground if we empathically engage with others, look at things from their perspective and discover their point of view without bias.
A life that inspires follows one' s own vision
Success and excellent results can only be achieved when inspiration is followed by implementation. This is where your vision helps you. Your vision is your inspiration and gives you the focus, strength and courage to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
A life that inspires you is self-determined, builds on your strengths, your values and your «Why». You do what you are particularly good at, what you enjoy, what is important to you and what you consider meaningful. You consciously live your very own vision – in our professional and private life. This way of life not only has a positive impact on your well-being and satisfaction, but also on the lives of those around you.
